Dive-In : Elysium Hotel
We are based in the prestigious Elysium Hotel off Tomb of the Kings Road in Paphos.
The centre here is only a stones throw away from the picturesque harbour. The harbour offers numerous attractions and culinary delights al fresco Mediterranean style!
At the harbour, there is the Paphos Castle originally built as a Byzantine fort to protect the harbour and rebuilt by the Lusignans in the thirteenth century, then dismantled in 1570 by the Venetians, who found themselves unable to defend it against the Ottomans, who in
their turn restored and strengthened it after they captured the island. Saranta Kolones, Kato Paphos, near the harbour, is a castle built in the first years of the rule of the Lusignans (beginning of the twelfth century) maybe on the site of a previous Byzantine Castle. It was destroyed in the earthquake of 1222.
Paphos really has an amazing and varied history. The legacy from its remarkable history adds up to nothing less than an open museum, so much so that UNESCO simply added the whole town to its World Cultural Heritage List. Among the treasures unearthed, are the remarkable mosaics in the Houses of Dionysos, Theseus and Aion, beautifully preserved after 16 centuries under the soil. Then there are the mysterious vaults and caves, the Tombs of the Kings, the Pillar to which Saint Paul was allegedly tied and whipped, the ancient Odeon Theatre and other places of interest including the Byzantine Museum and the District Archaeological Museum, with its attractive collection of Cypriot antiquities from the Paphos area, dating from the Neolithic Age to 1700 AD. Near Odeon, there are the remains of the ancient city walls, the Roman Agora and a building dedicated to Asclepius, god of medicine.
Diving Facilities
We are a PADI Gold Palm resort, BSAC Premier +Technical centre, TDI Centre, SDI, DAN Gold Point and an IAHD facility. This means we can offer nearly a full spectrum of courses from all of the agencies represented, as well as understanding the needs of visiting divers.
An air-conditioned classroom is equipped with all training agency required materials and full audio visual presentation aides.
Air is supplied by a 13 whip L+W 450 super silent compressor which has its air purity checked every six months. We take care when charging our cylinders to ensure you never have a short fill!
Within the group we have a fully equipped workshop with professionally trained technicians. We can normally have service items turned around within 48 hrs.
Wi-fi is available FREE to everyone diving with us. Please ask us for the password when you arrive.
Diving
Our diving schedule and packages run over six days, Mon through to Sat. We double dive every morning, which means we are normally back at the centre by around 13.30. Afternoon and night dives are available on request.
Every day we dive we can offer local shore/boat diving days or safaris to the Zenobia or Latchi. Whilst on the trips to Zenobia and Latchi, divers are virtually guaranteed to see the larger marine life that we have here in Cyprus!
When we dive the Zenobia the boat leaves from Larnaca (approx an hour and a half drive from Paphos). The top of the Zen is 18 meters and we circumnavigate the wreck at 30 meters to take her all in. The wreck is an ideal Nitrox dive and mixed gases can be supplied on request.
We tend to keep groups small, personal and with similar abilities. We dive to air rather than time and specialise in long slow, relaxing dives.
During the summer months we can also offer boat diving on a purpose built dive boat. She is berthed in Paphos harbour which is a short drive away from our centre. The boat has a large canopy to provide shade during the hot summer to ensure your comfort.
Comfortable Double Cab pickups transport you to the dive sites that stretch right into the heart of the Akamas Nature Reserve.
Equipment
The rental equipment we have are Apeks regulators and the BCD's are from Seaquest. We have a large selection of wetsuits that include 5mm long arm shorties that can be combined with a long john and hoods to offer you 10mm exposure protection during the colder months.
Cylinders are steel and we have 7, 10, 12 and 15 litres available. We also have twinsets and stage cylinders available for technical divers.
Torches and computers are also available for hire.
