PADI 5 Star Career Development Centre

A PADI 5 Star Career Development Centre (CDC) is a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre (5 Star IDC) that meets all PADI 5 Star IDC requirements and also offers additional professional development training. Because of the services offered, PADI 5 Star CDCs are places where candidates receive training to prepare themselves for careers in the dive industry. PADI divers, members, and the dive industry at large all benefit from the PADI 5 Star CDCs commitment to professional development and excellence.

A PADI 5 Star Career Development Centre must satisfy a number of prerequisites and requirements including:
• Have been a renewed PADI 5 Star IDC for at least 2 years and have no verified PADI Quality Assurance violations within the previous 12 months and no open quality assurance inquiries in progress.
• Have trained a minimum of 60 PADI Instructor candidates (those who have completed an IDC or OWSI Program).
• Continue to meet all PADI Dive Centre, 5 Star Dive Centre and PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre requirements.
• Have offered and conducted (and continue to offer and conduct) a complete career development curriculum that is at least 6 weeks long and includes but is not limited to:

o PADI courses – Rescue Diver, Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, IDC and Speciality Instructor training.
o Pre and/or Post IDC instructor level courses equivalent to at least 20 training days. These courses must include skills and knowledge relevant to retail dive store and/or dive resort employment.

• Issue at least 60 instructor level certifications annually, 15 of which must be IDC/OWSI Program certificates of completion. Programs that qualify for instructor level certifications include, but are not limited to, Assistant Instructor, EFR Instructor, PADI Speciality Instructor and instructor level career development programs.
